Edible flower arrangements great holiday gift idea

November 6, 2009

It’s the holidays and I want to find my friends and loved ones something special. What do I get, flowers; chocolates, cards? While nice, those traditional gift ideas are pretty tired. Luckily, there’s a fresh solution to these kinds of age-old-questions, one that fits any occasion.

Edible Arrangements in the Thousand Oaks Janss Marketplace sells beautiful, tasty bouquets of—no, not flowers—but rather fresh fruit ecstatically arranged to tantalize the senses. Just as the name implies, the bouquets are edible, and beyond that, healthy and delicious.

Edible Arrangements specializes in creating delicious fruit designs filled with fresh strawberries; pineapple; grapes; oranges, cantaloupe and honeydew. The fruit often is dipped in a delicious chocolate. Arrangements are guaranteed fresh and are available in a variety of styles and sizes. Representatives of the franchise say the arrangements are perfect for Happy Birthdays, thank yous, congratulations and sympathy to business events, client gifts and employee appreciation. Each arrangement is made to order and can be customized. They can even add a special occasion Mylar balloon. All ingredients are natural, no preservatives or sweeteners are used.

Who might purchase an Edible Arrangement and why? The baskets are a great gift for any age and every type of personality, representatives said. People give them to office co-workers to thank them for favors; sales people send them to clients; husbands, wives, and lovers send them, and the baskets make wonderful bereavement gifts. Terry Siciliano, customer service manager, said, “That’s  because if you send flowers, they wilt away, but the fruit sends the message of support and at the same time offers nourishment for those who might be too dispirited to prepare a proper meal.”

He said that for those who do not enjoy chocolate, the arrangements might also be dipped in peanut butter. Arrangements may be ordered in advance or same day of event.

“Besides the great taste and beautiful arrangements,” Siciliano said, “we work to provide outstanding customer service. We have a very high percentage of repeat customers and they tell us it’s because the arrangements really please their friends and because we make it easy to give a unique gift.”

Siciliano said there is an extensive training procedure for new employees to ensure the quality and consistence of all the Edible Arrangement displays.
Patrons can pick up their arrangements or have them delivered. Edible Arrangements uses insulated cold cases to transport the fruit.

The store offers specialty vases, such as golf balls, baseballs, poker chip holders and more theme vases to give an even more festive feel to their arrangements.
There are also Edible Arrangements locations in Camarillo and Northridge.
